Insight of the day: Politics is telling a group of people who they are. This makes them into a unit capable of collective action, and also determines what action they'll take. Which dividing line is most important: nationality, class, gender, sexuality, profession? => how to act.
I love these glimpses of clarity, sort of compressing a whole bunch of issues into a simple thought.

Political news of yay: Opinion poll today gives the Green party 10% (most ever!) and the left-socialdemocratic-green coalition over 50%. Here's hoping for a change of government in September - it seems entirely possible. No longer having a right-wing christian as minister of social affairs would be a brilliant thing. And it's about time we get a woman as Prime Minister! I have high hopes for the next election. (And real fears about the nationalist party, but that's another can of worms).
