...right now, is an AU of John Fowles' The Magus. Preferably with Immortal Merlin as Mr Conchis, Gwen and Morgana as the mysterious lovely twins, and Arthur as the young English teacher who gets ensnared in their psychologial games on a small island in Greece. It could be brilliant.
I'm finishing up my remix now, and thinking about language. Small things:
- In English I miss a useful pronoun for his/her own - like, a separarate possesive pronoun to use when referring back to the subject. If I write: "He grabbed his wrist" - how do I know if it's his own or someone else's? (His/her own is so clumsy!) In Swedish this is hans/hennes vs. sin/sitt/sina.
- Nipple is a good word. In Swedish it's "bröstvårta" - literally "breast wart". The areola is the "wart yard". Why thank you for the mental image, language.
- Sometime I'm going to learn that "funny" isn't exactly the same thing as "a lot of fun". My brain wants it to be.
- I wish I had a better grasp on accents, dialects & sociolects. How you know who someone is by the way they speak, how background is conveyed through language. I want the culture in the language, I guess.
(De små sakerna: om grina betyder skratta eller gråta, om man pratar på eller om något, om man säger fjortis med långt å eller kort o, att vara åpen eller knö sig... Fubbigt!)
writing,
