Anthropomorphic Personifications

Sam Winchester was gone. Back to the living. Rescued by an angel. Once again Dean had found a way to save his brother.

"That was rather unexpected." Death shook his head.

I KNOW THAT FEELING. Somebody said. IRRITATING, ISN'T IT?

Death turned to his visitor who sat in the chair Sam had left just moments ago. They were no longer in the human's mind but the image still lasted. With a raised eyebrow Death took in the sight of the robe-clad figure who cradled his scythe in one arm while he held an abnormality of a hourglass-shaped lifetimer in his other skeleton hand.

Death took the second chair and offered his guest a fresh glass.

"Bourbon?"

THANK YOU. He dropped the lifetimer in his lap and raised his head to meet Death's eyes. Death looked into the eternity swirling blue in the empty sockets of the skull under the hood.

With a nod Death filled the glasses and they both leaned back in their chairs, enjoying the first taste of the rich aroma of the Bourbon.

"You have experienced something like this before?" Death ask.

UNFORTUNATELY. The bones of his hand clicked against the glass when he brought it up to his not existing lips. NO SENSE FOR KEEPING AN APPOINTMENT.

Death thought about that for a moment.

"Hero complex?" Death asked not sure which Winchester he was referring to. And if there was a difference.

QUITE THE OPPOSITE.

"How do you deal with that kind of attitude?" Death made a wide gesture with his glass. "The tardiness, I mean."

I'VE BEEN TOLD EVERYBODY NEEDS A HOBBY.

Death had to admit the Winchesters had made this little planet a bit more interesting. He took another thoughtful sip. A hobby, that was an intriguing thought. A smile ghosted over his lips when he thought of what Dean would have to say about that idea.

"Does your hobby have a brother?"

NO. He set the glass back on the table and picked up the misshapen lifetimer again. HE CAN BE IRRITATING ENOUGH ON HIS OWN.

"Consider yourself lucky."
