Random thoughts on the BNL situation - not aimed at anyone in particular..and in no particular order

Ok - So I was a little stunned.  And, certainly sad.  I love BNL largely because of Steve's involvement/musical influences on the band.  But, really, I'm not devastated.  I can't find it in me to feel that way.

I've scanned bn.net over the past couple of days to see what the buzz is and people are really upset about this.  As if someone died.  I could maybe understand this reaction if Steve had died or some other tragic event happened but this doesn't seem to rise to the level of alarm that some folks are feeling.   (for me at least)  I find it hard to fathom that people feel so betrayed and are in such deep depression.

On the other hand, I'm completely surprised by remarks made by Ed and Steve in interviews that they are surprised that the fans are taking it so hard.  Really?  They've always had dedicated fans, just vacationed with many of them, and wrote a pretty vague statement on the internet - we didn't even get it through the Ladies Room, Sixthman, or any other email notification.

I'm sorry that I didn't have an opportunity to see the band play together again.  My last show was the Framingham bookstore show for the kids album.  It will be strange to see them without Steve.  Then again, I waited over 15 years to see NKOTB when they left the business.  And, I wasn't let down by the reunion.  I can keep those kinds of thoughts about future BNL reunions alive in my head.

I am looking forward to seeing more Steve solo work.  I enjoy his solo work and I hope he continues to find it satisfying.

Did I read somewhere that "Call Me Calmly" was performed on the cruise???   Perhaps that was Steve's special farewell.  (sorry if it wasn't and I misunderstood that...just a hypothesis)

I REALLY hope that Steve's departure doesn't mean more Kevin on lead vocals.  Just a personal preference.  I'd love to hear more Jim.
