grandmothers -- thank you for bringing me falcon, sage, oregano, strawberry

to my grandmothers,

yesterday was great, thank you for a very organic, relaxing, re-energizing day with lovely friends. i picked up janna, kyle and kiddo reagon in the morning and we headed to the country, to belluz farm went to pick the last strawberries of the season.when we got back to town, i visited my work colleagues to say hi and washed a few handfuls of strawberries to share with them. i asked my boss about the changes in the office and the job posting (which i suggested to a friend to apply for, since i'm committed to my position). i wanted to check in about the position (essentially my past position, re-posted as a 1 year contract) but it just doesn't feel 'right'; my brief impression that colleagues gave me is that the office will feel stifling. i have been finding out info from a friend in toronto about her experience taking the fundraising management certificate program, so i still think this is the direction i'd like to take, career-wise.

i am thinking about the interesting gifts you've shared with me...

when i was walking to the office, i saw a falcon pressing itself against the glass window. they are occasionally in the city, but it was kind of interesting to see it on campus at the avila for the first time. i approached it slowly, it hopped along and then found it's direction and flew away.

when i think of the falcon, i think of vision/focus, the sun and the powerful speed and control of this bird; I believe falcon made presence to me, so thank you for this. Falcon animal totems encourage us to calculate and strategize. If we have a goal, Falcons beckon us to make plans and strategies to obtain these goals. Falcons are all about focus - strong, one-pointed focus. When they show themselves to us, we are being called to focus on our desires and our goals, and do what is necessary to bring our desires into our reality. The fact that the Falcon is a solar creature could mean there is something in your life that you are highly passionate about, and the Falcon is asking you to take action on this passion. But be smart about it - don't jump into something without doing research and planning. Make your passion a reality by pursuing it methodically and as strategically as the Falcon would persue his hunt. (http://www.whats-your-sign.com/falcon-animal-totem.html)

when i think of strawberries, i think of how sweet and luscious they are and how they can resemble a heart. let them be a symbol of love, abundance, happiness and joy. The strawberry is elementally tied to Water, sacred to Venus and Aphrodite, and is governed by the planet Venus. (http://www.blackphoenixgazette.com/?p=1425)

i have been reflecting on love and work, which are essential for my feelings of fulfillment and happiness and so the strawberry and falcon, made me pay attention and let me know that you're listening.

janna and i spent some time at the marina looking at art and sitting in the sun. we enjoyed eating the rest of the strawberries and cheese. afterwards, nicole got in touch and picked me up and we went swimming in her pool and i always really like our talks and friendship.

i got home to my apartment and felt happy and calm. charm and ty got hold of me and they found wild sage and oregano at the park, and i had tiramisu to share so i joined them. i had drinks and we chatted into the night. the abundance of oregano in the field, it brought excitement to me when Charm shared it with me. Legend has it, the Greek goddess Aphrodite created aromatic oregano as a symbol of joy and grew it in her garden on Mount Olympus. Perhaps we should not be surprised that oregano was believed to bring happiness. (http://www.motherearthliving.com/cooking-methods/get-to-know-oregano.aspx#ixzz2aYLTb1Xf) It is said to encourage good luck and good health. It is used in spells for happiness, tranquility, luck, health, protection and letting go of a loved one. It is believed that when worn on the head during sleep, it will promote psychic dreams. Oregano symbolizes joy. It is said to banish sadness and why not with its sweet fragrance and velvety leaves. 2It is used for rituals celebrating joyful occasions, or in spells to bring joy into one's life. It is believed if carried in a sachet or charm it will bring good luck and good health.

the oregano (joy) and sage felt important to me, as if renewed since my personal smudge ceremony at the creek the other day. i really feel and know you are listening and i am so grateful because i don't feel that sense of lonely that i did. i know it fluctuates and that i will feel and have felt alone and lonely sometimes an it is important that i acknowledge this sense and be kind to myself. you gave me so many gifts, yesterday. thank you!
