Refractory musings: part one

November: I made you my sultry red month to finish what I start, and to focus on what I'd really like the months after you to be. Going on that short Toronto visit was great. While that summer trip was about seeing one of my best friends, Good Girl, and hanging out with old and new friends and gauging the rhythm of the city itself -- this November trip allowed me to really use my own two feet and to figure out what's next. I've scribbled and scrawled some notes and things, on both occasions. I'll get to those eventually.

November, you've made me realize how much I love working on projects -- school, work or personal. From making lists, planning, and then doing it -- but leaving room for spontaneity -- I'm going to carry this on. Perhaps I should approach opportunities, and realizations as if they come once and think a little on it but not too much.

I thought I'd take some of your time, November, to apply to graduate school. Not quite ready yet, but I'm on it and I'm not going to forget about it. I'm glad you gave me time to talk to my professors, to make connections, and time to really shape out my interests and passions.

December: Not over yet, but I love how you're bringing together my friends and people in general. There was my birthday, a really spontaneous get together at Madhouse -- thank you to Blonde for asking me what I was up to; I was super happy to see friends I haven't seen for a while and have delicious food! From the awkwardly pleasant family dinner, a girl's night out, bar/gallery hopping, and catching up with friends... Also, the snow that you bring is beautiful as being able to sleep in...

January, I'm looking to you with bedroom eyes. Which would mean, I am totally open to rejection of all kinds. Bring it, darling. I'll try to give you my best possible self, just because. But, I do hope you'll bring me and my loved ones some good news. Whatever, we'll make it a grand party regardless!

Here's to the new year, dear!

winter, friends, family, unsent letters
