Quick warning- whilst Grave of the Fireflies (by Ghibli) is stunning, it's INCREDIBLY depressing due to the subject matter. So if you're looking for cheering up I'd go with My Neighbor Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service.

you have a cool taste in films!
Hehe, flattery will get you everywhere!

Just looking through my DVDs to see what else I would suggest...

Fantasy:
Labyrinth (with David Bowie in a codpiece!)

Comedy:
Dogma
Shaun of the Dead (a romantic comedy...with zombies!)
Hot Fuzz
Little Nicky
The Addams Family
Addams Family Values
Dude, Where's my Car?
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark
UHF
Any film by Monty Python (especially Holy Grail)

Drama:
Lost in Translation
Memoirs of a Geisha (I also recommend the book)
Gran Torino

Eye-candy!:
Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula (Gary Oldman ftw)
The Crow (don't bother with the sequels)
Edward Scissorhands (made me cry!)
Sleepy Hollow

Horror:
It (Based on the Novel by Stephen King)
An American Werewolf in London (really funny)
The Lost Boys (also file under eye-candy!)

Factual:
Supersize me

Shaun of the Dead is love, I have that dvd (which is a big thing for me, because I'm CHEAP!)! And I watch Bill and Ted's everytime it comes on TV...(you've got my sense of humour figured out:D)...American Werewolf in London appeals a lot as does It...thanks, dear!
