My brother turns 20 next week (the same day as Lil's birthday!) and I bought him what I think is probably the funniest card ever.  However, it also points out how incredibly juvenile my sense of humor truly is ( Read more... )

I understand about all of the problems with insurance companies not wanting to pay. However, it's still nice to have the piece of mind that if something major happens, chances are good you're going to be protected. PetCo has a program for geriatric cats, which is what I would probably enroll her in. It covers stuff like seizures, heart disease, seizures, and boarding fees if Melissa or I should end up in the hospital due to a life threatening illness or injury. She's already 5 (36 in human years, as I learned), so chances of stuff like that happening soon are probably becoming greater. I'm not sure about the whole PETA thing because I don't usually follow PETA. We usually do most of our food and toy shopping at Pet Smart though (better selection), if it really matters. I just want to know that if something should happen to her or us, she will be taken care of. I don't want to end up in a situation where we're deciding "okay, this surgery costs $2,000, they won't do it unless we can pay them and we don't have the money. What do we do?" or something equally depressing. I haven't thoroughly looked into this though and I'm definitely interested in alternatives to PetCo health insurance.

Thank you for your input though! (even if it was a little misspelled at first...:-p) I definitely need opinions and you're good at looking at all of the fine print and knowing odd little things about everything that are sometimes enough to change the entire picture. I appreciate it.

oh! Also...

no, I don't have Lee's contact information. I used to but somehow it's gone. I also don't have the founder's information. And yes, I think that they are married. I found them on some Brethren website, though I don't remember which one or what it was about. Lastly, thank you for the information on Isaac. I had no idea that that happened to him. How did you find out?

I procured Lee's contact info from Jamie and I found the email that you had sent me previously about the founder's...so thank you for sending it to me in the first place!

It was posted on an LJ community that I read so I thought I should send you the article.

I just happened to be interested in the what types of animal insurance are out there and I ran across some companies you might be interested in researching: VPI, PetSmart (called Banfield) and PetCare Insurance. Those are just a few that I have found and the reviews for all of them have been a mixed bag--some people think they are God's gift to animals and others would like to run over the company with their cars.
