I'm doing it

Melissa and I adopted Sophia on Friday morning.  She is a 5 year old tabby.  She is so wonderful! We were petting her in her room and she exposed her belly for Melissa to rub, which apparently is incredibly rare for her.  We paid the fees and put her in her carrier to take her home, when all of a sudden people started escorting us out and saying "Congratulations!" "Enjoy your new baby!" and the like.  It seriously felt like we were leaving the hospital with a newborn in arm.  It was wonderful.  She purred the entire way home, which was unexpected.  She got freaked out when the maintenance men came in to install our new medicine cabinet, so she hid in the bedroom.  Other than that, she has been great. Dave and Lindsey came to visit and I think they fell in love with her too.  She loves to sit in front of the sliding doors that lead to the patio, watching the birds and bugs, feeling the wind on her face.  She also likes to lay down in front of her water bowl, lazily dipping her paw in the water before licking it off.  She is great at making huge messes with her water dish.

Oh yes, her middle name is Kirk.  Melissa and I had always discussed naming our cats after star ship captains, starting with Kirk, Picard, etc.  Since she already had a name, we just decided to go with Kirk as a middle name.  We are so cool.

Pictures!!

I'm sure you will be lucky enough to see her around LJ from time to time :)
