NEW HOUSE

Moving out of the Burke house was exhausting but moving in to the new place turned out to be a giant headache of its own. When we arrived the downstairs water heater had burst the night before leaving the basement floor completely soaked. Not to mention the old tenants had several cats, who, apparently by the foul smell, were not potty trained. We also quickly found out that our clothes washer, and the upstairs kitchen sink both dump directly into a moat on the side of out house, which then drained into a man made swamp along the back of our house! For a while we even had suspicions that the basement foundation was cracked and allowing water to come in from outside. Luckily that is not the case. Thankfully, most of the houses problems have either been fixed, or are on their way to being fixed.

I went to a really great concert about two weeks back, Grizzly Bear with Deer Hunter. Me and Brent biked up to Capitol Hill. At the time I hadn’t really gotten a chance to bike around, but if you didn’t know, biking around in the city is crazy! I seriously felt I was going to die, but I am getting use to it now. We biked up to the venue to get tickets but they weren’t selling them. Then I ran into my old friend Chris Taylor, who conveniently is in Grizzly Bear, so we caught up with him and he got us some will call tickets. We biked back home and met up with Gordon and Anne. Anne is this cool musician chick from Eugene that comes up to visit and play shows every now and again. While she was here this past time her and Gordon hooked up, and he had gotten tickets for her. We also met up with Christine Mineart, someone I haven’t seen in over a year. She just got back from Germany, where she was working as a scientist! We all got to the show right when Deer Hunter started. They played a pretty good set, then Grizzly Bear played, which was truly amazing. I haven’t seen a show that good in months, maybe even years.

The next night we had a little informal party and my band Ghidorah played in our new jam room. We blasted out about 15 people at about midnight and apparently none of the neighbors heard, which is great.

I read in the news that my cousin Tom Roose was arrested in Lynnwood for drug dealing. Apparently he had meth, oxy, and over 20 grand in drug money. The police ceased the vehicles he had in his possession. Which turned out to be his parents, but they seized them anyway. I see my cousins less than once a year, so we are not that close, but it still blows my mind.

A neighbor informed us that under the freeway, across the street there is something called Wednesday Night: Knight Fight Night! Its where dudes dress up in real metal armor and slam each other with swords and maces! Fucking awesome! That means that whenever I can I’m going to get a crew down there for Wednesday Night: Knight Fight Night!

Malia is going to be coming back from Africa on the 28th I believe, so that means we are going to have our first official party over here Saturday, September 29th. Talbot Tegora will be playing along with one other. It should be pretty sweet. I’ll keep you posted about details.
