I have been staying with my grandma. Up at her house is a whole different world for me. She lives on a mountain above the town of Clear Lake, near Sedro Woolley up in Skagit county. Its up in the forest and there is a magnificent view of the valley bellow with a majestic river flowing through it. There is even an eagle nest perched down the mountain side. My grandma seldom travels, and when she does its to go to the grocery store to buy food and wine. When I came up she had no TV and I don't think she has a radio either, no newspaper, and not a lot of contact with the outside world in general. She is very old and cannot bend over yet because of a recent hip surgery. I cant imagine how she must spend her days.
We enjoyed one another's company very much. I brought my cello and ended up practicing a lot, which my grandma enjoyed. We talked about family, memories, books, art, college, social trends, economics, politics, religion, nature, and anything else we could think about. I have a lot in common with my grandma. I feel like I share more in common with her than any other of my relatives, which is strange because we have such a wide generational gap.
I brought a very small amount of weed with me up to her house, and I went on two different hikes, and when I was far away, surrounded by nature I would smoke about three hits of weed, and hold each hit in a very long time. Smoking weed in nature is a very tranquil experience for me, and I value moments like those. The reason I went up to Skagit was to work, but visiting my grandma proved to be really great, and definitely a drastic change of pace, which I think is good for me right now.
