Something Affected

Does the plant infect the soil,
like an aching wisdom tooth
infects the person?
We groan about the stretching
and how insistent it is.
But we must grow
because we are the cycle too
no one said it was going to be painless
or quick.
If that sapling could hear me,
I would tell it to be patient in trying times 
because there is a lot we could learn
from something trapped.
