Oh my stars, I love this. I love the idea of Gaius trying to do something, just a little something for her after she died, and that he's so devastated even though there is that possibility that she's alive (she's not there with him!)

Also, this line: "Gaius says it to himself, over and over, practicing the way it feels on his tongue. Saoirse. It feels like when he used to say darling."

My entire soul was shattered and illuminated at the same time.

AND RED SHOWING UP! It was perfect from start to finish.

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! I've never really written Gaius before and I was a little wary I'd seem to be abusing him somehow :)

And Red! I've literally never really thought about her as being a real person/character/much at all and then there she was! But I was asked to watch the miniseries and focus on Gaius and this was the moment I most missed seeing.

Interesting fic. Not the biggest fan of Gaius, but somehow like the idea of him and Caprica.

Yeah, he's never been one of my favorites but the effort to get inside his head for the epics rewatch is drawing me in rapidly... Basically this happens any time I spend a great deal of time thinking about any BSG character :)

I've often wondered about this moment! I think he'd just be so in shock about everything but must've taken a moment to register his Six's body and ache over it. I looove that you wrote this. The simple intimacy of their memories together, her having picked his sheets, and this-

The first time they had sex here, she made him a picnic, and she curled up next to him with her head on his leg. He stroked her hair absentmindedly. She turned when he did it, looked up at him with total surprise and he seemed to see her beauty for the first time. Such a simple thing.

That first sentence was something I stuck on *as I was posting* when I sudden realized that I'd totally forgotten about her saving him - I'm glad it worked!

And head!six...I have really no idea what to make of her :) For now I'm just going with the explanation I came up with for Descant until it stops working.

Now it might be time to ACTUALLY rewatch the miniseries!

Gods, I so badly wanted to see those moments after the explosion ficced and I just love this. Seriously. My heart.

I love seeing Head!Six intervening for the first time and the thought she puts into choosing that moment.

This was great to wake up to this morning.

I confess I never thought about that time between the explosion and him reaching the shuttle. This is fascinating and touching. Interesting that Head!Caprica trusts his self-protective instincts to keep him safe while acknowledging that there is more to Gaius than that. Very humanizing and thoughtful fic.
