Wow I haven't been in LJ for YEARS so I'm looking at everyone's journals and I'm so encouraged to make personal collage journals in 2017 again.
Anyway, I made my own soft leather Midori-type A6-size journal in late 2015 and used the pocket notebooks I made for my Etsy shop (closed this year until January though). All are handmade and designed by me, so I'm pretty happy that I don't spend so much. Last year somebody gave me a link to bullet journals, and I was inspired to test them out because I had some prototype blank notebooks at hand. Some months later, I bought some leather and crafted my own Midori-type and managed to cram in 5 notebooks and a plastic pocket, and since then I don't leave the house without it.
My system so far is consists of inserts for:
- 3-4 month bullet journal for weekly tasks, expenses, time-tracking
- personal notes/rants journal
- business idea journal
- client notes
- anxiety toolkit journal
- plastic passport-size card pocket for tickets and stuff
Some bullet journal thoughts:
- I try to be consistent with bullet journalling, because the list-taking/checking habit really made scheduling easier.
- But this kinda backfires on days when I'm really down/tired/depressed and I missed writing for 2-3 days. I'm less motivated when I miss days and by the end of the week, I'm so guilty that I didn't take down a lot of stuff. Any advice?
- I think the paper + size of this journal won't accommodate crafty/collage journals though. I might get a different notebook. Any suggestions?
- By the end of the year I rarely touch my personal journal. I don't know, maybe I'm scared of mixing my schedule w/ more personal stuff. And I work as a designer so some nights, I just want to relax and watch some Netflix instead of working on stuff again. I really love how portable my system is, but it's better as a planner.
Any thoughts and suggestions? I'd like to hear from you. Thanks!
