The mymidon quickly unclipped his belt, pulling down his lower uniform in one swift movement. She paused with her hands on his bare legs, struggling to conceal a smirk. “That’s quite the lance you’ve got there,” she murmured.
“It’s a legendary weapon, actually.” His otherwise conversational tone was ruined by the breathlessness of his voice.
“I hope it doesn’t have limited uses. From what I’ve heard about legend-“ She broke off as he pulled her into a brief kiss. When they broke away again, she found her hair was loose, the tie now wrapped between the fingers of his right hand. “Hey now, mister, that’s cheating. What would your uncle back in Talrega say, hm?” She rubbed her hand against her nose. His helmet had hurt a little that time.
He noticed, and pulled the helmet off. She’d been right about the dark hair - it was possibly even more matted than she’d expected. But she was wrong about the eyes. They were dark as well. “He’d say I should get on with it already.” Without the helmet, there was no hiding the flush of the soldier’s face.
“Mister, I could grow to like your uncle.” She teased her tongue out from between her smile, and rolled him over until he was on top of her. Neither of them noticed or particularly cared that they were effectively mooning the enemy.
It was impossible to say if the battle was shorter than normal or not, because neither the soldier nor the myrmidon were paying all that much attention to their surroundings. [Ordinarily, they would have expected to be killed for their lack of observation.] As things stood, most of General Ike’s army seemed to be purposefully avoiding them. The soldier at one point noticed a red-headed priest’s eyes widen when he saw them, before running off muttering something under his breath.
The most obvious reaction, though, came towards the end of the battle, when nearly all of the others fighting for their side had fallen, and the soldier was just as exhausted as if he’d joined them. It was then, after the battle was clearly lost, that the myrmidon of General Ike’s army called out to them.
“Hey, Daein! Get a room!”
