Ode to Anthony Stewart Head

I always loved Tony Head, I loved him in the Taster's Choice commercials way back when, he is the reason I first started to tune into 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', and I've been really impressed with everything I've seen him in since: Manchild, Doctor Who, Merlin, Warehouse 13, and I was totally blown away by his performance in 'Iron Lady'. So when I saw him (and Nathan Fillion) listed in Percy Jackson: the Sea of Monsters I knew I wanted to see it on the big screen (in spite of the bad RottenTomatoes rating).

Tony Head has always been adorable, here is an old photo of him in 'Rocky Horror Show':

And he is still absolutely gorgeous in 'Percy Jackson' as Chiron:

He developed a way of moving that was so convincing (there is a wonderful article here about how different his performance is, in every way, from Pierce Brosnan's), and he had some close ups that knocked me out.

I have to say that I also went to see Nathan Fillion, whose performance was one of the real stand outs in 'Much Ado About Nothing', but I have to say that although it was fun to see him here, and he was entertaining, he didn't manage to do anything nearly as memorable as he did in 'Much Ado'.

My review of the movie itself was that it was playful, entertaining, and I enjoyed it. It reminded me a bit of the first Harry Potter movie, the first Ghostbuster film, and even slightly of the first Men in Black (it had that surprising bits of silliness which makes the movie really fun). It is not a great movie, but considering the rest of the summer movies this year, I would say this is one of the best (of course I came in with the lowest expectations, so of course it showed well against Iron Man III and the Wolverine, for which I had had very high expectations).
