Joss had planned to bring James Marsters onto Firefly!
The British do the best interviews! While in London promoting the opening of 'Much Ado About Nothing' Joss gave a rather wide ranging interview with Total Film. Somehow the conversation came around to putting Shakespeare into his TV shows and it turns out he actually had a plan to do that in a Firefly episode: James Marsters, Alexis Denisoff, and Amy Acker would be a traveling troupe of Shakespeare players and would meet the crew of Serenity, and stage a play in the cargo bay....
It breaks my heart that we never got to see that! That would have been all kinds of awesome.
