making ornaments

So I signed up for the Buffyfest ornament exchange because it looked like so much fun, and I pulled from some of my own fan art to sew something soft and light (non-breakable and easier to mail than something heavy and/or truly fragile):

I also got excited about doing something a little steampunk. The basic ornament I used was one I bought at the hardware store (they also sell these at craft stores, but for more $) last year: it has a large mouth so you can insert your own stuff to personalize the ornament. I had already inserted some gossamer packing material that my niece packed my gift in last year.... And then this year I found some steampunk style owls at a sticker store:

Then I used some of the small gears that lovejames sent to me to add a little extra interest to the ornaments.... I may do more of these, but I'll wait, I don't want to over embellish (less is more).
