misc fun stuff
1. first is politics, Romney 'You're So Bain' (you probably wish this song wasn't about you)
2. Joss' film adaptation of 'Much Ado About Nothing' opened at the Toronto International Film Festival last Saturday and got great reviews... AND Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions (Lionsgate saved & released 'Cabin in the Woods') is going to distribute the film! Now they might just opt for limited release, pay per view, iTunes, and DVD/BluRay... which would be reasonable because this is a small low budget film... but whatever they do I am very excited about! Did you know that 'Much Ado About Nothing' actually cost less than 'Doctor Horrible Sing Along Blog'? Even though it is twice as long and has twice (or three times) the cast. This is because 'Doctor Horrible was in color, with a lot of special effects, and remote locations (all those things cost more); the total for making 'Doctor Horrible was $300k, and it made over $3 million dollars (everyone profit shared, it was never about the money). So there is no news about when Lionsgate will release this... I do hope it is sooner rather than later.
Joss gives a very nice interview here where he talks about wanting to make a Shakespeare play for an audience that isn't that familiar/comfortable with Shakespear.
3. So what else is fun? Has everyone picked up Brian K. Vaughan's Saga? It is really wonderful Sci-fi fun, and the Trade Paperback is coming soon (they are on a 2 month hiatus at the moment). I'm also really enjoying Terry Moore's Rachel Rising (zombies with a twist, really lots of twists...). I love seeing some comic book writers doing really original work.
Well, three good things are enough (Felicia Day only does three now....).
Right now I'm reading another of Laurie R. King's Mary Russell (Mrs. Sherlock Holmes) books... I'm enjoying Garment of Shadows a lot... but I know it isn't to everyone's taste (Mary Sue Mystery fun). It would almost be my 4th fun thing.....
And of course Breaking Bad could almost be my 5th good thing, but actually I'm starting to find the violence to be even harder to take than Dexter (I think I need a break for a few days... once a week is probably all anyone should watch this! LOL).
