I'd like to make a tiny correction regarding the special guests at each table: not every table had one, and you got to sit at a table with the special guests for an additional fee, which was kind of annoying. Two years ago Esther asked if she could sit at our table (her husband wasn't at the convention and we had spent a lot of time with her, and we were already seated; I don't think any of the tables were pre-assigned but my memory is poor) and she was startled to learn that a fee was being charged to sit at her table. She schmoozed our table quite a bit during the banquet, and several others. I love that woman.

well for the record, anonymous: I did not pay any extra fee to sit with Bernard Pearson, and I don't believe the people at Terry Pratchett's table had paid anything extra (over and above the cost of the banquet).

We did pay extra to sit at a table with a special guest. Who we got to sit with was randomly assigned and I got to sit with Sir Terry. Three seats at our table had been sold at the charity auction for quite a lot of money. I bet you had a blast with Bernard!
Very jealous of your weekend - sounds like an amazing time (and your costume is great). Good to see Terry still in the heart of it as well and I'm looking forward to his new Discworld which is only a few months away.
Yeah I can't wait for 'Snuff' (hearing a chapter just made us all want to hear more!)... and Terry is still loving life and writing (it is just little things like autographs that are an annoyance for him)... he didn't have to judge the costume contest, but he did and really enjoyed it....
I hope you have a very fun day planned for a week from tomorrow!
OMG, I love this report! It must have been awesome seeing Terry and Neil and hearing all that history of Good Omens. And I LOVE both your outfits, especially the steampunk hat.
Also: six bottles of wine? Bernard Pearson is a man after my own heart.
It really was an exciting weekend, thanks for reading all of that! I had heard Neil Gaiman speak at Comic Con back in 2009, but he was even funnier when relaxed and trading insults and praise w/Terry Pratchett! Those two are such good friends.
And yeah, I think there were 8 of us at the table and Bernard Pearson figured there was no way 2 bottles of wine would be enough... You would have loved him, he was very funny without ever being crude or creepy. I really enjoyed everything I did at this convention.
That steampunk hat is such a joke... it is a plastic hat (so nice and light weight) which looks metallic all spray painted copper w/the copper colored ribbon and the big metal looking goggles. It cost almost nothing to make. Actually my gown also didn't cost much either since I bought the black velvet dress at a thrift store for $8.
Oh I love your luggage icon! And yeah, NADWCon in Madison was awesome (even better than the one in Tempe, AZ, which I also loved)! Did you post your pictures here at lj?
I was so glad that you had posted about the crafting of the Feegles, it really helped inspire me to get started with mine.

And yeah, Bernard was a scream, and he drew little pictures in each of our passports.
