Glad to see you had such a perfect day MB. The 4 of us who went to the other Iowa theater in Des Moines, 2 hours the other direction, really enjoyed Midnight in Paris as well as the movie took you along for the adventure. I have to hand it to Woody, he is still very creative, warm and funny. // Company sounds like it was great fun too, again so nice that all went as planned.

Hey Jim, so cool that you posted at my lj! (nobody else does anymore)
and I agree: Woody Allen is still very creative, this is one of his best (IMO)

I seriously want to go to Paris now!

Well I did get the senior discount (LOL). Normally 2 movies in one day would be too much, but since Midnight in Paris is only showing in two theaters, both of which are 100 miles away from where I live, it wasn't really an option to go another day... not anytime soon anyway.

Well I knew I liked the music, so I expected to enjoy Company; it was set up with the performers in front of the full orchestra (sort of like that concert performance of Les Miserables, except that they did do the full script (just without any costume changes or little or no sets)... they really brought out the comedy, which took actors who really knew how to do comedy well. I didn't know Patti LaPone could be so funny, she even smokes funny!

So yeah, kind of exhausting day but worth it.

We have a similar problem, despite Chelmsford being a perfectly reasonably sized city, it only has one cinema and we're more likely to get another screen of The Hangover 2 than a new Woody Allen or similar. Mind you, they have done a few cool things, including broadcasting some plays, ballets and operas live. Plus did you see NPH's hosting of the Tonys? Very funny while being able to think on his feet.

I'm taking Helen to Paris in a couple of months time - I'm hoping she'll enjoy it.

Oh how wonderful, I hope you'll post photos of your trip to Paris...

And yes, NPH was wonderful at the Tony's... there was a video posted of the writers who created his final rap (and him learning it during the show):

So funny...
