American Raku masks

May 25, 2007 15:06

Today I only got two masks back, but I'm taking photos from different angles because the whole deal with the masks is that they are relief sculptures and their do need to be seen from more than one angle.
Of course the metallic shine just doesn't show up in the photos at all.

there is nothing like sculpting in clay... very much like playing in mud! LOL

I hope you are enjoying a nice quiet three day weekend, it sounded like you had a long frustrating work week! Have you gone to see 'Pirates' yet? I'm thinking of going tomorrow.

I haven't seen "Pirates" yet. I want to go. Maybe next weekend if not this one.

Oh I really like them. I think it must be so much fun to actually model human faces. I don´t know why, but the second one reminds me a bit of Mal. Weird huh?

w/the rose bud pink lips? LOL
It could be because Nathan doesn't have much of a bridge to his nose? Who knows... anyway I thought she was such a girlie girl w/the curly hair et al.

It is fun to model human faces... as soon as I lift the eye lid, or roll back the lips, there is a very plastic skin like quality to the clay which makes me feel like I can just can the sex or the mood or the age of the face with just a few pushes and pulls. I'm not sure I'm ever getting tired of it.

Unfortunately the class ends in a couple of weeks :(
