Today we had orthotics lab. :D
Information through the magic of Wikipedia.
We had our feet placed in casts. It was strange to see the shape of my foot. It was very unsettling to see my feet after the plaster molds were filled. It's strange how our bodies make it so we are aware of them, but not really aware of them. It felt foreign, even though I knew it was my foot.
I'm covered in plaster. There should've been a warning to not wear black. At least I didn't place my hands on my breasts or bum. That would've been embarrassing to walk through the student education center.
I turned it into a Harry Potter experience. We had bowls and the plaster, when added to the water, bubbled and fizzed and smoked. I had my cauldron dammit! We also got to add food coloring. I have moments where I realize just how eccentric I am and this lab was a four hour moment. I did convince Patrick to perform a magic trick.
I hope the orthotics are comfortable. I have two more labs. I will photograph the finished product.
I just realized I could so make them with my kitchenaid mixer and my hello kitty toaster oven. That would be the most awesome picture ever if I could do that...especially in one of the vintage aprons I have. :)
