By the way, we had the DO/MD discussion again today - it seems that if you want to be a good doctor, you do fine with a DO (and are probably trained better). If you want a career, you need an MD. There's probably a similar distinction like that for podiatry...

I've never heard that. I think it's possible to be a good doctor and to have a career in either.

We were talking to someone who wanted to go into Public Health and Public Policy. He said that he liked the DO approach to medicine better than the MD one, but as an administrator, an MD would get him in more doors more easily. Same with research. It doesn't invalidate one or the other, just shows inter- and intraprofessional (are those words?) bias

He would be shocked to know the Chief Medical Officer of Broadlawns (a hospital in Des Moines) just happens to be a DPM, hehe. ;)
But wow, someone actually wanting to do administration? Wow. I looked over my friends' finance books (they are in the MHA program) and I had a migraine. It was the first time in my life that I saw a textbook use beige to highlight important topics. More power to the guy.
