(I hope I've spelled it right.)
I always admired Beki when I would see her. When I first came to the Heathen community, she is one of the people who answered my questions calmly, with humor, and never treated me like I should already know, or was too innocent to be given a straight answer. When I started down the path to become a Seidhkona, she and her husband took me aside and gave me advice, congratulated me, and assured me that they believed in me, that I could become a good Seidhkona. I don't even know how they ever knew me well enough to estimate something like that - that is the way of a priestess, I suppose. But I will never forget that Beki was already looking after me when I didn't even know her yet. I wanted to get to know her better, but I didn't have much of a chance. But that never bothered me because I always figured there'd be a chance later, someday.
And maybe there will be, but not in bodies, and while I do believe in the Ancestors, it's just not at all the same. It's funny, I think I'm sadder at the loss of someone I wanted to know better and didn't get to than I've ever found myself up until now losing someone I knew well and loved. Those we know well and love, they know we love them. Those who pass just outside our grasp... that's really a potential never fulfilled, eh?
*sigh*
Rest well, and journey free Beki. I have always admired you, and always will.
