Average Content?

Aug 18, 2009 18:38

A friend railed at Facebook stealing away the LJ content and filtering it into little snippets, mostly content-free.

Another friend ranted about the inanity of Twitter some time ago.

While I am on Twitter, I'm not the most talkative participant ever, and I don't do any talking on Facebook.

So why after posting an average of twice a week this year* until mid July have I suddenly become silent for over a month?

The answer is.... *drumroll please*

Uhh...

...

I don't know? I just don't seem to be in a mood for journaling? July was fired, and I haven't caught on that it's August yet? My cat got my tongue and gave it to... Hmm, Papa Ghede.

I guess it's just that journaling is a creative outlet for me, and like most creative outlets, I go through phases where I have a lot to say via that medium, and then weeks, months, even years when I don't do anything at all. I rarely draw anymore, and haven't drawn regularly in years. I haven't written much poetry this year, but did a whole bunch for a while there. I've been beading like mad, of course. I dove back into Second Life for a while, making more avatars and all, but then I didn't even log into that for a week when I got focused on yet other things. It's like a timer goes off in my head that I've over-used a creative outlet and need to change to something else if I want to actually stay creative.

Then, also, this is a communication medium. I don't want to talk if I have nothing interesting to say, and not everything I have to say is something I feel like sharing with all and sundry. But mostly I've been focusing on preparations for my headwash in November, re-arranging and setting up my temple, dealing with various family stuff and trying NOT to be too focused on school 'cause damnit this is my downtime.

So... yeah, if you have questions you want me to answer in posts, I guess you can ask 'em here. Otherwise, I'm sorry about the radio-silence. I promise it's not because I've defected to other journaling sites or anything.

Logically I'll probably start chatting again once school starts.

* Yeah, I actually went back and did the math. Oddly, until this last month, weeks with no posts tended to happen at the turn of the month. No idea why...
