I was going to write an entry about why I'm unacceptable. Why what I'm doing is unacceptable. Why nothing I can do is good enough. Good enough for myself, good enough for my friends, good enough for my conscience, good enough for God. I was going to write about all the reasons that I should feel constant shame, why I should dread being around ( Read more... )

I understand the whole personal standards thing and trying to get to it, but sometimes they end up being pushed to points where it becomes increasingly difficult to reach for them until finally you're stuck there on a ladder grasping at thin air. Plus I don't think God would have issues if this were the case and would possibly considering it endearing that you're beating yourself up over not being good enough. The whole can only be who you're meant to be thing basically.

And if this is over being gay I'm going to smack the silliness out of you. The catholic freaking church has admitted that being gay isn't a sin anymore... the catholic freaking church. They normally would be the last ones to admit it and only after its become such a common place thing that they look rediculous for sticking to it.

Actually, that would be a good reason for me to dislike the catholic church even more - but that's not what this is about.

I'm an immoral son of a ... and my past is going to hurt me for a very long time. The guilt I feel every day is enough to distance me from the people who want to help me get through this and to a better place in my life, a beautiful catch-22.

You mean in that they're showing some sort of humility and admitting they aren't god but an extension of him? I'm a little confused about how this is a bad thing.

No, because homosexuality is a sin and should not be accepted as a proper practice within any religion. Romans 1 clearly shows how one is given over to homosexuality and Paul also wrote (I believe in 1 Corinthians) how men who lay with men and men kept for unnatural purposes would not inherit the kingdom of god, which should be enough to show us (at LEAST) that god does not look favorably upon it.

To be honest Catholism hasn't been taking everything that has happened within the bible as fact but as lessons so its rather open to interpretation. Although I'm sure you can find a number of priests who during the day say its a horrible sin and you'll go to hell and during the night who knows what craziness they're involved in.
