Ultimate and the Legend Himself

So quite a day yesterday...Ultimate tourney and the Billy Joel concert, to which I had been looking forward for several months. Ultimate tourney was pretty good...2-2 record, losses to Elon (6-13) and Pittsburgh (7-13), wins against a high school pickup team (players from CHUF, Jordan, Cardinal Gibbons, and Ravenscroft, 13-7) and UNC (13-5). We got two callahans in the UNC game (callahan = where we intercepted the disc in the other team's endzone, resulting in a goal for us).

Then, later last night, I got the privilege of seeing Billy Joel, the Legend Himself, perform at the RBC center. The man can definitely put on a show. He started with his usual prelude and "Angry Young Man," and somewhere in there, he got up from the piano, strapped on a guitar, and played backup while one of his technicians sang an amazing rendition of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell." He ended up doing several encores, saving some of his better known songs for last. "River of Dreams" and "Big Shot" were some of his last songs, and for his encore, he performed my favorite of all his songs, "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant," and "Only the Good Die Young." Finally, he put on the harmonica and sang probably his best-known song, "Piano Man." It was truly moving to hear nearly 20,000 people taking over the last chorus.

A few pictures under the cut. All of yesterdays pics are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/eman2718281828/:

Getting ready to receive a pull.

Damn...I missed.

Me throwing...do I really release the disc that high???

The stage and lights...the lights were nicely choreographed as well.

This one turned out nicely. The Legend Himself with the band.
