Haha. It's equal parts wanton cliffhangery and superstition. Nothing causes a situation to make an abrupt 180 like a bold declaration.

Agreed. Thus people should not make silly declarations such as marriage proposals. NOTHING causes divorce like marriage does. :P

LOL, technically, though, you're right. And yes, I realize you're being tongue-in-cheek, but I proved my theory admirably this morning when I pulled a blown-glass stalk of wheat in a flimsy plastic tube out of my backpack, and crowed loudly to my coworkers as I set it on my desk, "I forgot I had it in here! Jeez, it's been bouncing around since the weekend, and it's still in one piece." At this point, the tube decided to commit hari-kari by rolling off my desk, emitting only the faintest of tinkles as it hit the floor. In hindsight, I should have placed it perpendicular to the edge of my desk, not parallel. :D

Hehe. That's okay. It was a small token of appreciation given to all members of the organization for all their hard work last year. (I was not yet with the organization, but my dad was, and gave me his.) It's not really a big loss; everyone I spoke to could think of no practical use for it, save as a swizzle stick.
