...you start composting your degu litter because you feel badly throwing it all away.

I started a worm composting bin today. The bedding is some shredded newspaper and degu litter (which is a sawdust pellet) + goo poo (goat and sheep poo is good for worm composting, so goo poo should work just as well) + uneaten hay + dust + chewed up stick fragments + misc goo toys. The only food we had to throw in was some cantelope peels. We eat a lot of vegetables / fruits, so the worms should have plenty. The only downside is that there isn't enough room to clean out two goo cages and put all the litter into one worm compost bin. I may need to start up another bin once my worms get going.
