4.06 JJ

Mar 06, 2010 12:26

I do love JJ, like fierce, you know? And the ep was really nice, Skins back at its best type TV in terms of the tone that it held the whole way through and I'm tearing my hair out that the whole series can't be like this (with maybe a bit more development for other characters).
Cut for 4.06 spoilers )

s4, jj gets locked on

I think you're right about Jack, it'd all fit under the title of Cook-ness somehow.

True that we didn't really learn much about what's going on with everyone else, but sometimes screentime is good in itself. Like Naomi's bit - it's rubbish because as you said they haven't developed at all in 2 eps but, that aside, I think Lily really did show that Naomi just doens't know how to connect with Emily anymore, that she's in no place to call her out on what she's doing but if she doesn't then it'll just keep happening. Basically, the scenes that weren't focused on JJ weren't wasted, even if they weren't as good as they could be.

I think it can still be a good ending from a story perspective, as long as it's done right. The best Emily could hope for up to episode 9 was something indefinate but with potential, so to see Naomi hoping for the same would be a nice contrast to me. As for how far they have to go - it'll be a task but I could see Cook showing them that, if they've had all this time where they're still together then that must mean something. Hopefully then we get Emily finally being angry at Naomi instead of just cold, some sparky reaction and then they can kind of start from scratch.

the scenes that weren't focused on JJ weren't wasted, even if they weren't as good as they could be. Oh I completely agree with this, and I think there could have been more of them, because they weren't wasted at all.

Lol, I realise that this post is actually quite whiny, but in reality this ep for me came just behind Cook over the season so far. I'm more moaning about the season as a whole being disappointing. Individually I find all the eps to stand pretty well. Like, every ep I've enjoyed at least a reasonable amount and some a lot, but I'm just finding that they don't fit together, you know? So, I'm not holding out much hope that they can tie off the endings because I don't think they've created season long story lines in the first place!

See I'm almost the complete opposite there. I've been really annoyed with most of the episodes as I was watching them, but each new one helps to make more sense of what went before it. So I'm holding out for this trend to continue, so that by the time the end rolls round I can rewatch everything and it'll flow together better.

The main problem is still all the angst though - I've been listening almost exclusively to Radiohead today and I realised that almost everything that's happened so far has a tailor-madeRHsong to go with it. And when that's the case you know you're in trouble ...

I don't want to make too many calls until the full seasons done and I can watch it all together and see how it works. So yes, trying to hold fire, but finding it frustrating so far!

We'll all be doing an Effy at this rate! Lol, agree to the Radiohead comment. I started planning something around The Bends and I'm not sure I'll be able to finish it off due to the depressing nature of it!

Ah, my stuff was more Hail To The Thief and Amnesiac, which if anything is even worse. Gotta say though, Myxomatosis works so well as a mood/tone setter, it'd fit right in with Cook losing it. And the lyricsI Might Be Wrong are just how Naomi must be feeling at the moment.

Would want to see that Bends thing though, so keep heart!

Myxomatosis is such an Effy song I think. I do love Radiohead for angst, they do it so well!

Yeah, I'm still thinking on it, and it'll happen at some point, but it'll take a while!

Basically it's badass song for badass people. Who, where and went is up for debate.

A while is fine, we've got rather a long time until S5 in which to make sense of S4. I may even start to take a shot at writing myself ...

Oh, dude, do it. Never can be enough stuff to read and it's always interesting to see different people's takes on the characters!

I've already got a few things down actually, any chance you could cast an experienced eye over them sometime?
