Snow Day

Dec 14, 2007 09:41

Yesterday, I started my day by listening to weather reports with predictions of a foot of snow and 1" an hour of snowfall. Because I had gone to an office Christmas party the night before I thought it best not to call in sick. So I drove to work and by 10 am had a number of phone calls from friends and family warning me about the snow and saying to be careful on my commute home. By 11 am I spent half the time staring out the window watching for snow and worrying about being trapped with my co-workers or stranded on a highway. It wasn't too shocking to anyone when I took off at noon after my last meeting. It was the best decision I could have made and I'm shocked I'm the only to have left at that time. Most people stayed until 3 when the plant was officially closed and had 5-6 hour commutes home. The nightmare stories of cars running out of gas, trucks jack knifing, cars sliding down hills, and just grid locked roads are pretty gruesome.

In the meantime while that was going on I was at home in my pajamas watching soaps and reality shows with my roommate while drinking a bottle of chardonnay. I must say it was a great afternoon and well spent even if I did nothing.

And our land lord rocks!! I woke up this morning and not only is our driveway plowed completely but between the cars is shoveled and all of the cars were brushed off.
