I think that if the J/A fans would had been more vocal about how it came naturally (to me it was) they wouldn't had been so hesitant to continue with it on this season.
Modern Warfare was an epic episode, however, those with heart and soul are not the ones with the higher budgets, the ones that deal with how they feel about each other, had made us keep coming back for more Community.
In the other hand, when Annie said that she wanted to be cool, and Britta said she hated herself, and on a later episode Jeff said he regretted to had make out with them...well, I think they are making excuses for their actions and are really lying about it...just to make it look like they do not really care...when they really do (well that's how I saw it, not like most had I admit)
Regardless, I so agree with you on how Community has handle the whole character dynamic...and hope to see it back as it was on future episodes.
