You really hit the nail on the head in a lot of ways! Last season Community grew on me slowly but surely because of the unexpected ways the group learned from and leaned on each other. Also, once it got its feet comedically it was hilarious. This season, there are still great funny and epic moments, but I feel like the writers are really struggling with the group dynamic. Also, as you astutely mentioned, his friendship with Abed. I enjoy watching him snark with Britta and goof around with Troy and not take his school seriously, but not as much as I loved watching him connect with his friends in meaningful ways that actually led to further plot developments. I can only hope that there is more of that on the way! In the meantime, it's still my favorite show.
