Seriously! Will and I did some ninja cleaning so the living room is no longer the potential hazmat area it was this morning. We literally vacuumed up about one cubic Spink! from the carpet of that single room. I figure we'll try for a room every day or two from now on, since the clean is nice and calming.
A while later we went on a field trip to take a third crack at exploring the park that
luminairex found some time ago. We were finally successful! It's a beautiful park, with a well-stocked lake and an island. Pretty big, too, as far as Phoenix parks go. And there's a library branch! I got a library card (101 in 1001 whee), and so did
stevieg and
squidheadjax. I even checked out a few books! Very, very excited.
Speaking of
luminairex, it seems he (and thankfully his luggage) are safely in New Zealand! I hope he has a good time--but damnit, I miss him.
In regards to the
new kitty, he and Spink seemed to reach some sort of uneasy truce last night that is very quickly becoming a weird sort of friendship. I think. I hope. There's minimal hissing and growling now, and they're tolerating being in the same part of the same room very well, so hopefully the worst is over. It only took 48 hours, too. Consider me very pleased.
After some pretty extensive thinking and researching, I've decided on the new camera that I want. It's a
Canon with all the specs I've been lusting over in the newer point-and-shoot size cameras. I'm particularly excited about being able to use lenses and the 6x optical zoom, since I was of the opinion that my Casio's 3x zoom was nowhere near enough.
Of course, having just half-impulse purchased a new laptop I have $1300 on my alternate credit card that I really should pay off before making any more big electronics purchases. I'm dying for a new camera though, so I don't know how I'm going to arrange this compromise with myself. Maybe I'll just cave and buy the
slightly less expensive alternative I was considering.
Regardless, I've spent part of today poking around on mturk, as I figure that mindless point-and-click behavior in return for amazon gift certificates beats playing
playing Set. I also think that right before I make my camera purchase I'll take advantage of the coin counting machines that spit out amazon gift cards in return. Maybe I can get $20 or $30 off the camera by the time I get around to buying it...
On a final note, I am excited that softball is starting up again on Monday! I'm going to go play catch with
stevieg and
winstontlchow tomorrow afternoon to get back into practice!
