Certificate in Public Health and Emergency Management Because why the hell not?
It's not an MA, so I'm not sure whether or not I'd get funding for it. Yes, they do have MA programs, but I like the looks of this, and really what I want is something to give me a boost into the Harvard Ph.D. Because that is the short-range end-goal.
I say short range because I do hope to live beyond that, and would like to do international relief work and also perhaps be a professor and teach the future doctors of the world how not to be selfish dolts who fall into the clutches of huge paychecks. None of them start out that way, all want to be noble and altruistic, but sometimes they lose their way. And instead of teaching courses in medical ethics that are all about what to do legally when a patient dies or when you accidentally leave a towel in the abdominal cavity during surgery, I'd like to transform medical ethics courses so they pose the questions of service inequality and distribution, and structural violence.
Yes, I am still reading too much Paul Farmer. But the guy's an inspiring genius, so give me a break.
