Our RS lesson today was on journals, and their importance.
I want to quote a part of our manual:
"In 1835 Wilford Woodruff began his first journal, 'believing it to be beneficial to reiew our past life and not only our privilege but duty to keep an accurate account of our proceedings' ". . . . "when required I may give an account of my stewardship' ".
The neat thing I got from the lesson was how our journals can back up the Church. We should make a record of every blessing we ever get; we should write down our history and dealings w/ God for our own benefit as well as the benefit of future generations.
On June 18, 2006 I was called to be the second ward choir pianist. My setting-apart blessing was pretty cool. Bro Lindstrom gave it to me. Bro. Nelson was the other priesthood member.
I was promised that this calling wouldn't detract from my time to do schoolwork and work-work.
I was blessed to be able to know that my talents are needed here, in this ward, at this time.
My family was also blessed that they might know that their talents are needed where they'll be going.
I was also told that I would be blessed to help my family in this move. And that through me, my family would be blessed in this move.
I was also blessed that I would come to love the mountains here as much as others do.
Those are the main highlights. The parts about my family were cerainly unexpected, to say the least. And the part about the mountains was really odd, but I guess I won't begrudge it happening, I just don't see it happening yet.
One thing I always think about when I get a calling is my patriarchal blessing because there's a few specific lines about callings in it. I'm promised bountiful blessings if I am faithful in my callings.
