My painting class in Flint was amazing, with field trips to the vacant 12th floor of the Northbank center to look out over the downtown area and sketch, a 12-mile round trip bike ride from the Farmers Market to Bluebell Beach, Flint Institute of the Arts to see Thy Brother's Keeper exhibit, the drive out to Midland to the DOW Industrial complex, Flint bus tour with stops at the old Capitol Theatre and new lofts that are being built (somewhere along the way during these field trips, I became really attached to Flint. the bus tour was the perfect field trip culmination because it showcased the revitalization effort that is underway. I think that if the enthusiasm-- and the funds-- stay strong, that Flint could actually have brighter days ahead).
I loved being overambitious and having to be a hermit for the past two weeks and paint furiously in my garage, listening to NPR to keep my sanity.
But now it's over. So I say, yum dinner at Inn Season, and English paper, you are going down.
