Dear Colleagues,
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Sherry Parker, a 28 year veteran of the district, passed away today after a long-term battle with cancer. Sherry and Russ Parker dedicated most of their professional lives to the students of our community. Sherry taught in Sierra Sands from 1973 until 2001. She was the Burroughs Drama instructor for most of that time. Sherry and Russ have lived in Prescott, Arizona since retiring. The Performing Arts Center was rededicated as the Parker Performing Arts Center shortly after their retirement. Their daughter, Susie Burgess, is currently teaching English at Burroughs.
A memorial service, to be held at Burroughs High School, is being planned. Information regarding the service will be provided when it becomes available. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the B-Mountain Foundation for the Parker Performing Arts Summer Scholarship. Please direct any questions concerning the service or donations to me.
