Hah! I've only not paid for the light-rail once because I have heard of coppers asking for your transfers. They don't do it very often, but if you get caught without a transfer they charge you almost two hundred bucks! I didn't pay once because I couldn't find change in my purse and I was SUPER worried that this was the one time I'd be asked!

Yeah, the idea is that they check just often enough that it would cost you more to never buy a ticket and get caught every so often than to just buy the ticket every time.

yeah, plus we're so proud of our light rail that we don't mind giving it a couple bucks for zipping us around town. public transportation, hooray!
