Allow me to brag about my dad for a moment...

So, on Monday, 11 March 2008, the space shuttle Endevor launched, on its way to the space station. On board, it had some equipment designed for testing materials for use in space. The testing is called MISSE.

Well, my dad helped to design some of the test equipment, and I'm so proud I'm busting buttons! :D Check under the cut for pics of the cool test boxes:

The gold circles indicate the tests my dad designed and built. The bowtie one is made to expose the material underneath to sunlight at certain times of the day--it turns to expose different bits of the material. The bar test has a motorized cover (on the right of the bar) that dad designed to move slowly enough that it would expose and cover progressive segments of the bar over a nine-month period. That is ONE SLOW MOTOR!!! :D My dad is so smart. :D

Here's another pic, with the same kind of bow-tie test:

Isn't it cool how they look like art boxes? :D There are two other sides to this box that look equally cool, but I don't remember which tests on it were dad's, so I'll keep the bandwidth down by just posting these two.

Also, I must just mention how much of a time-hog YouTube is! I just spent an HOUR watching Yo Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin vids. OY!
