Terra carefully removes a clip from her ammo pouch, and feeds it lovingly to her sniper rifle.
"Alright, Maytag, you and Arielle will be Designated Alpha Unit. Procede from here to the specified location. Your primary objective is to shut down the A-A batteries. Omega unit will provide a diversion, to try and draw as many troops away as possible." Terra pauses, and looks Maytag in the eye.
"From the way you carry yourself, I can tell yer experienced with this sort of thing. You are to protect Arielle at all costs. If you fail, we're trapped on this shithole of a planet, unless Sher-ya decided to send the whole armada." Terra rolls her eyes. "Unlikely."
Steppign back, Terra scans the nearby area with her OP-SAT. "Looks clear for now." SHe tapps her OP-SAT with her hand. "Don't forget to use this thing! Scan the area once in a while to make sure you're not about to be ambushed. You guys can either ghost the lake to the south, and follow it toward the base, or cut around and through the forest."
She coughs, and pulls back the Com-Link window.
"Omega unit is going to cut across the field and try to pick off as many stationary guards as possible."
A light snow begins to fall on the wintery plain.
Terra cocks the massive weapon cradled in her armor clad arms, and salutes. "Be careful. If you get pinned down, and need Sniper support, contact me via OP-SAT. My frequency is 11.22.83. I will contact you guys if I spot any guards or recieve any intel on the base. I will be responding as Echo Unit."
"Oh one more thing...If you are severly wounded, and think you can survive the hike, contact Jena. We have a Doc onboard The Kernal. The frequency is 86.08.66 "
Terra shoulders her rifle, and, removing a small package from her belt, moves silently into the undergrowth. A moment later, her camoflague conceals her from sight.
Arielle and Maytag are alone. The snow begins to increase in intensity.
To the south, the vague outline of a lake is visible, but barely, through the sheet of white flakes. A small dirt road runs parallel to the lake, towards the Base.
Beyond that, the forest silently waits, also blanketed in white.
Either choice represnts unknown danger.
The OP-SAT beeps, indicating the decrease in temperature and weather.
The team shivers in the growing cold, as night grows a step closer to falling.
