Well, I've almost been home for 2 months now. It's been quite an adjustment. I think it's harder to adjust to moving back home than it was to adjust to college. A LOT has changed back here, which I knew would happen. That's part of life. Many friends have changed, which means friendships have changed. Some for the better, some for the worst. Some things have been pretty disappointing, but I'm learning that no matter how much I don't want someone/something to change, they/it will. I have changed a lot too. I've been on my own for a year, making my own decisions. Life is completely different living in a dorm away from friends/family, and many friends of mine didn't go away to school. We relate on a different level now, not an "I'm better than you" level, just a "we have had different experiences" level. It's been interesting.
I LOVE being home, I really am enjoying it. I love hanging out with my mom/family and friends. I'm spending a lot of time at the pool which is how my summer goes. I miss JMU a lot though. I miss my friends and the college life, but I will soon be back there and be missing here. This summer is flying by though, it's crazy.
On another note, my best friend Kelly is spending her whole summer as a camp counselor at a Christian camp in Texas. That girl is amazing. I only get to talk to her on the weekends, usually for a very short time. However each time I do get to talk to her I get so excited. Hearing about the girls she has in her cabin and how they've accepted Christ/grown in one week makes me so proud of her. We've been best friends since we were 7 years old, so we have grown up together and grown in our faith together. She has been a consistent friend throughout the past 12 years almost. In elementary school and middle school one of us was rezoned to a new school, then in high school I moved. Still to this day, 4 years after I moved and 900 miles away, she is a constant source of encouragement and support in my life. That girl is one of my heroes.
