Repost for those who don't follow me on Tumblr, lol

Another very interesting interview with Subaru, translated by enshinge. I love hearing him talk about music, and this interview actually asks him questions I wanted to know the answers to.

Subaru is never one to hide his feelings, we know this, and we also know he’s struggled with being labelled an “idol” when it’s obvious he wants to be taken seriously as a musician. But I worry sometimes, because I’m sure he’s said “I used to find it hard, but I’m comfortable with it now” before, and yet he’s still saying now “I’m only just coming to terms with it”. I mean, I’d hate for us to read another interview like this in a year’s time, where he says “Oh, 2013-14, that was a really tough time”. I don’t like to think of him feeling he has to hide things, even if we can tell things aren’t quite right with him.

That said, though, it is easy to tell when he’s having a hard time, and when he’s more at peace. I think he’s doing OK rn, whereas during FIGHT time, according to friends who were at the shows then, he really didn’t want to be there - and that coincides with a period he says was difficult, 2011-12. It makes me sad when he says he wasn’t happy with things they were doing then, because it always makes me wonder what he *is* happy doing, and what he’d rather be doing instead of the stuff he doesn’t like. (That said, I didn’t like FIGHT much myself, so if he didn’t like that album much, that makes sense to me in a way ^^’) I want to know for definite all the times he was happy, everything he likes about K8’s work. Because I like it, and I don’t want it to be a lie, you know?!

It seems like things go in cycles for him. Some times are happy and settled, some times are tougher, and when you have tough times, it’s easy to feel like you’ve always felt that way. But I really hope things are finally in place once and for all for him. I feel like K8 have more opportunities now to show the range of their talents, especially when they get chances to go on shows like Kaba Kora and work with people from so many different backgrounds. And having seen how much they’ve developed over the years I’ve been following them, I think signs are good for the future :)
