Holy Crap, I'm alive

I keep forgetting that I have this thing. Not that I think too many people are left on here. But still. All kinds of things have been happening on here, some of it good, some of it bad. The usual goes on - work, work, sewing, sewing, more sewing, even more sewing, conventions and SCA events, work, and so on. XD I lead a very "boring" life. Sorry this isn't under a cut, I've forgotten how

- War Practice: WP was fun, if a little bit awkward, as I was put in the middle of some feuding friends. The problem is that I think both sets of friends want me to be enemies with the other side, and I want to be friends with both sets. XD I'm doing okay with that so far. On a more fun note, I learned how to fix my ax handles to fit the heads of my axes better. Instead of asking the marshal to do it for me, I asked him to show me how, which seemed to impress him a bit. Enough that he remembered my name later on at War.

For those who don't know how the SCA game is played, you can choose a persona name to play by. My name was approved in February (yay), so I now officially play by Sophia Yphantissa (my persona is Greek).

- Colossalcon: This was an awesome time. My "baby" sister (she's going to be 21 in a month, omg) did a group project for the Craftsmanship contest. I made the costume, she made all of the jewelry and props, and we both styled the wig together. We did an artbook version of Sakura from Tsubasa Chronicles. We didn't win anything, and we know exactly what we need to fix and improve for next time, and already have things in the planning. We didn't even care that we didn't win (though there's always that slight disappointment). We just adored the fact that Kat couldn't get 5 feet down the hall without someone squeeing over her gown, her props, or all of it together and demanding pictures. She looked absolutely amazing. Oh, and we pet a baby tiger. Highlight of the convention right there. Baby. Freaking. Tiger.

- Pennsic War: this event probably had the biggest sets of ups and downs. I had fun at the event, by socially, with my friends, everything went to a clusterfuck. I felt very used and abused by someone I consider one of my closest friends, and I still get the feeling that she intends to continue the same pattern. I work for her helping to make garb to sell, and I made a shitton for her. And then when I needed her the most, aka, for a place to stay, she left me hanging high and dry two days before I was set to arrive at War. I was able to find a place, but the whole thing left a sour taste in my mouth. Add on to that that I think she was subtly trying to sabotage my sewing projects when I was asking for advice (i.e. she gave me bad advice about fitting, or sleeve types, that I didn't know were bad until AFTER I'd made something), and the whole thing has me feeling uneasy.

However, camp drama aside, I had an amazing time. My buddy Chris, who lives in DC was in camp, and we often wandered to parties together. I think I had the most fun at the Mardi Gras party, where I did, in fact, earn beads. The parties were a lot of fun. The weather... not so much. It was either scorching hot, or dreadfully wet the whole time. I think we had one "nice" day. lol. But that's pennsic for you.

- Other stuff: a lot of my friends have been facing terrible losses in their lives, and it makes me feel so sad that I can't do anything for them other than offer up my ear to listen to and a person to cry to. I can't even give them a physical hug because they all live so far away. So my friends, and you guys know who you are, you have all of my love, and I'll always be here for you.

Picture post of all the crap I've been working on to come soon, I promise. ^_^ And I'll try to remember to update this more often.
