Jrock Revolution mini-rave, next stop: EXPO!
Sweet Mother of Kami, Jrock Revolution was amazing!
I've finally got my voice back after screaming along to everything I knew (and everything I picked up as it was played)... I think I actually injured myself screaming when SUGIZO CAME OUT ON STAGE. Yes, that deserved caps. And an OMFGWTFBBQASDFGHJKL!!!!!!1!!oneeleventy!! or three.
It was probably hopeful fangirl hallucination, but I coulda sworn for about 2 seconds that I spotted a tri-rÿche necklace on Sugizo.
Of course, I'd just been FRONT ROW at Queensrÿche the night before, so that coulda had something to do with it.
Kagrra, played Yousai (the song that made me fall in love with them 5 years ago, OMG). Duel Jewel played Tales (the song that reminds me of that Rush song, Bravado, which I also adore, and also of Diru's Akuro no Oka), and ROCKED SO FUCKING HARD. I mosh'd. Miyavi had this guy who painted and threw petals all about the place... oh, and played Are You Ready to ROCK? with SUGIZO. Vidoll's bassist, Rame, is adorable (what is it with the adorable vk-loli-bassists?). Alice nine., I'm sorry I didn't have more energy left to bounce for you! Merry's vocalist had a table! and was delightfully spaztastic. Thanks to Girugämesh, I am a hoopy frood who knows where her towel is and has a mild case of whiplash from headbanging 'cause they also ROCKED SO FUCKING HARD. I believe I did most of my singing along to D'espairsRay, 'cause they have the most sing-along-able songs... I now own Mirror and have played it in-store a few times, to my delight and to the confusion of a few customers. MUCC's bassist proved that it is indeed possible to Deploy Star Power(TM) with a standing double bass. OMFG.
I corseted both days - purple with T3h Sk!rt Friday, black leather with the black-and-red layers on Saturday - and, with the hide plushies nestled in their favorite spot, got quite a bit of attention as I was standing in line, riding the bus from the hotel, hightailing it to the bar to get gatorade, etc. I got interviewed on camera at least 3 times, i think. >.> I was literally stopping traffic on Saturday - people were slowing down to take pictures of me with their cell phone cameras. *evil megalomaniacal laugh* Behold the power of boobies! Really, the entire line was prime people-watching, so there's no way I can claim all the credit, but I freely admit I'm vain. *snickerfit* I finally had cards to hand people when they asked about the corset, too!
So... this month is full-swing getting ready for Anime Expo. I'm sewing bloomers and loli-headbands to sell at Xcentricities' booth, under my own Dementions label. I'm also working on two duo-cosplays with RonJohn: Ouendan (my jacket will likely be later incorporated into a Haruhi Suzumiya outfit) and "Bishounen Ed" and Mei Chang from Fullmetal Alchemist (including the Shoujo Manga Panel Frame Hula Hoop of DOOM and sparkles). I have an appointment with my optometrist early next week to attempt to use my vision insurance for the year to get a pair or two of colored contacts, and an appointment with my hairstylist for my pre-Expo trim. I'll also be wearing an amazing visu/goth/loli corset dress by Xcentricities (my payment for work on the gothlox and corset.net sites) and randomly marching around in a camo corset as part of the Corset Army (Promoting World Peace Through Aggressive Fashion) - you KNOW you want to join! Somewhere in here gotta get some work done for Turquoise Museum as well so I'll have money to spend...
Holy crap. Lots to get done. And here I am updating when i should probably be sewing or something. PRIDE on Saturday - sharing booth space with Xcentricities to sell Blast and have more Corset Army fun. Work Saturday night. Ballooning eeeearlyyyy Sunday morning. Laundry and silkscreening Ouendan armbands Sunday afternoon. Heh... guess I'll sleep when I'm dead!
