children, even in some of the worst circumstances, have this wonderful way of placing trust and affection in the adults around them. I just got back from the domestic violence shelter where I volunteer, and despite the conditions for these children, they restored some of my faith in humanity. There are all the usual petty squables, but they are so sweet most of the time. It makes me happy.
