This is an Open Road Song

Point the first: I am keeping nattieb. You all can't have her, and I'm not sharing. The cookies will be mine.

Point the second: Angela posted a few days ago about "hen parties" and whether guys had anything similar. Truth be told, we don't really. We sorta do. The guy get together is more about release, rather than sharing. It's about beer, video games, and testosterone having a multiplicative effect. It's not about sharing your feelings and opening up. It's about just finding an outlet for the testosterone, because honestly, that stuff is not accepted in real life.

This post is not about that. This post is about the better stuff. This is about what guys live for.

The Road Trip

I have never had a seven hour drive go by so quickly. PJ, Aaron, PJ's wife Souen (poor woman) and I took a road trip from the Bay Area to beautiful San Diego to visit our old friend Shawn. For those unfamiliar with The Crew, PJ and Aaron have known each other since Pre-School. Donald, who passed away two years ago, and I, joined them from our Pre-School in First Grade. Shawn had been with them since Pre-school as well. Shawn moved away in 8th grade, and I hadn't seen him since PJ's wedding two years ago.

The drive down was fun. I HATE being in cars, and I had fun. The time just flew by, in spite of me having woken up at 5:30. I didn't even need a nap. We were so riveted by just hanging out in the car, something we can't do as often now that we don't all live 10 minutes from each other.

When we got to San Diego and met up with Shawn, you wouldn't think that I hadn't seen him for most of the last almost 15 years. It was like we hung out every day. I do miss him and wish him well. He's got it good down in SD. New condo, new girlfriend, great weather, and his parents just completed the sale of their house. Life is good.

San Diego is lovely. I think I could live there. Walking through downtown, I swear, every restaurant's strategy was to put a ridiculously attractive woman as their seating hostess outside like some sort of Dutch style red light district. "Would you like to see a menu?" Umm, yes please...

Good times all around. Most fun I've had in a long time.

Sorry that I've been quiet. Vacation, and school starts Monday. Boo. Wish me luck.
