The doctor brought the tiny, crying bundle to his mother’s arms. She took him, as though she had been doing it all her life, and not as though it was, in fact, her first time holding her son.
“Isn’t he perfect Susan?”
She smiled through the tears, or maybe it was because of them.
“Yes.”
“Have you thought of a name?”
The tears kept coming, but her smile only grew.
“Yes. He should be named for the best men I’ve ever known. We’re going to name him Peter Edmund.”

Ami was usually so neat and organized, so the state of disarray of her notes and texts said something.
More than that, there was that look of frustration on her normally composed face that told Zoe everything she needed to know.
She gently took the book from Ami’s hands.
“What are you doing? I need to finish!”
“You’ve been at it for days love. You’re ready. You’re just panicking.”
“You don’t understand-“
“Yes, I do. You feel vulnerable, and you’re trying to cope. I have a much better solution.”
She kissed her, long, slow and passionately, melting her worries away.

Kunzite brought two cups; one for him, and one for his new friend.

Ben took a deep breath of the tea before taking his first sip.
“There was a time when I needed control, and would have wanted those things. But these days, I find that it’s the simpler things that matter.”
Kunzite nodded. He knew exactly what Ben meant.
