Not so good Morning.

I’m so bored today. I’m not a big fan of my job. Okay that’s not fair. I like the company and everyone is very nice. There are just a lot of aspects of it that I could do without. Top of the list: the 1 1/2 hour (one way) commute from Baltimore to Washington. But I’ll save this rant for another post.

This post is about how being dazed and confused can be a good thing when going to work. Normally I don’t get a lot of sleep. Five hours on a good day. So my morning routine is done out of instinct. Wake up, get cleaned and dressed, grab a quick bite, drink a large coffee, and commute to work. When I get to the office I’m still pretty out of it. So I go through the motions of checking my email, cup of coffee round two, finishing yesterdays pile of work, organizing today’s pile. No real thought goes into any of this. In fact I probably don’t actually wake up until I’m about two hours into my work day.

Well yesterday I wasn’t feeling well, so I went home early. Last night I got about 10 hours of much needed rest. I woke up feeling healthy and refreshed. And it all went down hill from there. Being awake you notice EVERYTHING. Like how dirty your house is and that you really need to mow the lawn. Like how other people can’t drive first thing in the morning. How uncomfortable the seats are on the MARC train. HOW REALLY SLOW and dumb other people are first thing in the morning, because even though I’m awake THEY’RE still dazed and confused. Then I get to work and realize how mind numbing my job really is. This didn’t bother me before because my mind is already numb from lack of sleep!

That’s it. I feel better now. Feel free to comment.
